Katy Area Economic Development Council kicked off the new year with its January General Assembly meeting on Tuesday, January 18 hosted by Embassy Suites by Hilton Houston West-Katy.

Patrick Jankowski, Senior Vice President of Research at the Greater Houston Partnership, provided a look at what is on the horizon for the Greater Houston region economy in 2022. Jankowski noted the economy continues to recover well from COVID-related impacts, and recent surges in case numbers have had minor impact on the region’s economic outlook, particularly hiring trends. Looking ahead at 2022, Jankowski predicts the Houston region will add approximately 75,000 jobs. Overall, economic indicators are healthy with continued recovery and growth across multiple sectors expected in 2022.

Matt Stoops of LJA Engineering discussed the production of the newest Katy Area Development Map. The map, which is produced by Katy Area EDC every two years, includes current and planned thoroughfares, residential communities, commercial developments, industrial areas, schools and hospitals, city, county boundaries, city limits, ETJ’s, retail areas and other pertinent community development information.

The map is offered in two sizes: 42” X 58” and the 24” X 36”. Maps have yet to formally go on sale but please monitor the Katy Area EDC website for purchasing details in the coming weeks. Members of the Katy Area EDC are provided a limited number of free map(s) and discounts on the purchase of additional copies.
