U.S. Small Business Development Center Assistance

Entrepreneurs in the Katy Area marketplace are supported by the Fort Bend Small Business Development Center, which offers small business owners one-on-one confidential, no-cost venture advisory service and training. The Fort Bend SBDC is part of the Texas Gulf Coast Network that is managed through the University of Houston. Houston Community College Northwest

Houston Community College’s Center for Entrepreneurship-Northwest provides advising, resources, and affordable continuing education courses for small business owners. The Center also hosts an annual Business Plan Competition with cash prizes as a showcase opportunity for proposed, startup, and existing entrepreneurs to develop focused plans to start or grow their businesses.


SCORE Houston

SCORE is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration. It is the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors dedicated to helping small businesses launch, grow, and achieve their goals. Locally, SCORE Houston is a chapter of volunteers who are experienced entrepreneurs, corporate managers, and executives with a diverse set of industries and specialties. These volunteers provide their time, experience, and knowledge to help local small business professionals start, develop, and grow businesses. SCORE offers free business advice, low-cost or no-cost business training, and numerous templates and tools.

Texas Veterans Commission

Texas Veterans Commission is a state agency that advocates for and provides service to veterans to improve the quality of life for all Texas veterans, their families, and survivors. TVC operates the Veteran Entrepreneur Program (VEP) to foster and promote veteran entrepreneurship throughout the state of Texas. VEP provides access to experienced business consultants for any veteran in the state of Texas to consult with, free of charge. TVC also provides certification services for businesses to be designated as a Veteran-Owned Business; this branding program enables businesses that are owned by U.S. military veterans to differentiate themselves in the marketplace.
