Business Retention & Expansion
Existing businesses create the most new jobs in communities and Katy Area EDC recognizes the impact and importance of those businesses in the area. The EDC directs a business retention and expansion program that has been in place for the past 14 years. The types of assistance we provide include site and building selection, financing, economic impact analysis, workforce recruitment and training, tax and non-tax incentives and facilitating access to state and local programs. The EDC works closely with its economic development allies on selected projects.
Katy Area EDC, working with local Workforce Solutions personnel, can help existing or new companies apply for workforce incentives such as the "Skills Development Grant" program through Houston Community College or other programs offered from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Katy Area EDC helps Katy employers by facilitating workforce resources and training through the local Workforce Solutions Office and helping companies interface with the University of Houston at Katy, University of Houston Victoria at Katy, Houston Community College (HCC), Lone Star College, Katy ISD and other training providers in the area.

Katy Area EDC frequently advocates for major infrastructure and educational projects which impact economic growth, development and quality of life. Such projects include major highways like the Grand Parkway and Westpark Tollway expansions. Katy Area EDC also supports several bond referendums including Katy ISD bonds, mobility bonds and other public safety projects.
