Presentations from GEICO, Christ Clinic and Home Run Dugout highlight Katy Area EDC April GA

Katy Area Economic Development Council hosted its April General Assembly meeting on the campus of University of Houston - Victoria at Katy on Tuesday, April 18. Roughly 80 members and guests gathered as representatives from GEICO, Christ Clinic and Home Run Dugout provided on update on their respective operations in the Katy area.
Nidia Bandstra, Director for Commercial Lines with GEICO, discussed GEICO’s growing Katy area facility with opened in 2014. GEICO recently announced it will be adding several hundred jobs at the facility in addition to the over 1,400 employees that already work at the facility. The Katy area office is now hiring a variety of positions including commercial lines sales and service agents, operations trainees, and roles in the operations leadership development program. Jay Donnella, Head of Population Health Communications at Christ Clinic provided an overview of the growing nonprofit which continues to have a profound impact on the Katy area. Since its founding in 2000, the 501(c)3 non-profit clinic has provided the uninsured, underinsured and their families with access to primary care and mental health counseling. According to Donnella, as the local community continues to grow so does the need to provide access to health care resources. Christ Clinic is uniquely positioned to continue meeting this need and serving those in need throughout the Katy area.
Finally, Colby Smith VP of Operations and Katy General Manager of Home Run Dugout shared information on one of Katy area’s newest entertainment destinations. HRD, which recently opened in the Katy area, provides a unique baseball-themed environment with batting simulators and a full-service bar and restaurant. Visit the HRD website for more information.
