March 1: Party on Fat Tuesday

Mo’s Irish Pub will have a Fat Tuesday celebration. Fat Tuesday is the English translation of Mardi Gras. During the event, the pub will be hosting a crawfish boil, passing out beads and selling $5 hurricanes. The pub also sells appetizers, sandwiches, salads, burgers and soups. 3-9 p.m. Free. March 2: Celebrate Texas independence

The Fulshear-Katy Area Chamber of Commerce will host a celebration of Texas independence on the anniversary of the day the Texas Declaration of Independence was adopted. There will be fireworks sponsored by Katy Maids and music by Freddie Pate, Kelly Williams and Randy C. Moore. Guests must register before attending the event. 6-10 p.m. Free. March 3: Learn about diversity

The Fort Bend Museum will put together a lecture series titled “Our History, Our Diversity.” The first speaker will be Erin Baumgartner, a demographer at Rice University’s Kinder Institute for Urban Research. March 5: Enjoy muscle cars

Typhoon Texas is putting on the eighth annual Musclepalooza car show for visitors to see a large collection of cars. All makes and models are welcome to register for the family-friendly show. Only 300 cars are allowed to compete. There will also be food trucks, raffles and live music. Other sponsors include Garages of Texas, Gateway Classic Cars, Jones Hydraulic Service, Nerdtropolis and Scout Air. 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Free (unless registering a car). March 5, 12, 19, 26 (this event takes place Saturdays year-round): Shop at a farmers market

The city of Fulshear hosts a farmers market every Saturday. Market organizers are taking vendor applications for anyone who wants to sell their products. Visitors to the market can buy seasonal vegetables and fruits, pies, cookies, pasta, granola, juice, local honey, pickles and canned goods, among other items. 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Free (admission).
