Katy area health care providers share updates on care options, loan assistance discussed at November Katy Area EDC GA

Katy Area Economic Development Council members and community partners gathered virtually for the November Katy Area EDC General Assembly meeting. The meeting, held Tuesday, November 17, featured presentations from Houston Methodist West, Memorial Hermann Katy and Houston-Galveston Area Local Development Corporation.
Jerry Ashworth of Memorial Hermann shared an update on the ongoing response of the hospital system to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ashworth serves as Senior Vice President & CEO of Memorial Hermann Katy and Memorial Hermann Cypress, and explained the hospital continues to put forth all resources to fight the pandemic. He noted case numbers have been slowly increasing, and the organization has continually reviewed procedures and activities to address the pandemic. He also added Memorial Hermann has taken every precaution to ensure that patients at its hospitals are safe for non-COVID medical matters. Regional Administrator for the Houston Methodist Physician Organization Jennifer DiPrisco shared information on the variety of services offered by Houston Methodist West Primary Care Group. The Primary Care Group can assist whether one needs a routine checkup or long-term, comprehensive care. The goal is to provide the community with services when and where the community wants. This means having multiple locations, of which the group has 36 storefronts, and offering a broad spectrum of virtual services for further convenience with reduced contact during COVID-19. Isaac Perez, Senior Business Developer at Houston-GALDC gave an overview of the regional planning organization which works to solve issues impacting the Houston region. Specifically, the organization offers low-cost, fixed-rate loans to support small business creation and expansion, economic development, and job growth. Businesses located within Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Walker, Waller, and Wharton are eligible to take part in programs offered. Several members were recognized for membership renewal at the meeting including Board of Governors member Texas Children’s Hospital, and Trammell Crow Company at the Strategic Partner level. Amerant Bank, British International School Houston, Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc., Fisher Phillips and Raba Kistner were recognized for renewal at Associate level.
