JUST WHEN YOU THOUGHT KATY COULDN’T GET ANY MORE KATY, a major mixed-use development complete with its own nature preserve is breaking ground in the bustling burb this year. Katy Boardwalk District, a new lakefront destination within spitting distance of Typhoon Texas, will house a full-service, four-star conference center hotel, entertainment venues and retail, luxury lofts and 90-acres of natural splendor.
KBH Venture is developing the 169 acres at Kingsland Boulevard and Katy Fort Bend Road just south of I-10, and here’s what’s in store.
The conference center hotel, designed by Gensler Architects, will have 300-plus rooms, 43,000 square feet of conference space, dining and lounge options, a pool, and a fitness center. The hotel’s brand will be announced this year, and it will be operated by Benchmark Global Hospitality upon its fall 2021 opening.
The Lofts at Katy Boardwalk, designed by real estate developers Sueba USA, will consist of 319 luxury residential lofts with one- or two-bedroom floorplans, two resort-style pools, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and more amenities. Sueba will break ground on the first phase of the Lofts at Katy Boardwalk in January 2019 and finish up by spring 2020—you can inquire about leasing here.
The 155,000 square feet retail phase (also designed by Gensler) will include restaurants, bars, and entertainment hubs, 60,000 square feet of office space, and an acre of public green space, with construction starting in late 2019.
The lake and nature preserve will feature two miles of walking paths, wooden boardwalks, pedestrian-friendly pathways, and native plants and wildlife.
