Contractors selected for Katy Hockley Road, Pitts Road projects

Two transportation projects were approved by Katy City Council at a July 22 meeting.
The overview
Katy City Council awarded a $3.43 million contract to Sequeira Civil Construction, LLC to widen Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road. The project aims to improve the roadway between Morton and Clay roads by:
-Widening the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane divided concrete road with a curb
-Installing underground storm sewers and curb inlets to support roadway drainage
The widening project is funded by funds from the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County and was awarded a bid by the Katy Development Association on July 15, according to agenda documents. The project will begin in late-October and is expected to be completed by the end of July 2025, City Engineer David Kasper said in an email.
Also on the agenda
City Council also approved a $697,794 contract with MetroCity, LLC for the Pitts Road realignment project, which will reconstruct and more accurately align Pitts Road from Morton Road to Skiers Crossing Drive.
This project is also funded by METRO funds and was awarded a bid by the KDA on July 15, according to agenda documents. The project is expected to begin in September with estimated completion in January 2025, Kasper said.

-Road widening from Morton Road to Heritage Drive
