Katy ISD tops Houston area elementary school list

A Pittsburgh, Pa.-based data analysis firm said the top elementary schools in the Houston area are all part of the Katy Independent School District.

Niche, the educational data analysis company, compiled data from the Department of Education along with student and teacher surveys to determine the list of top schools.

According to Niche, the best elementary campus in the Houston area is Fred & Patti Shafer Elementary School, 5150 Ranch Point Drive. One of the comments from a parent said “We love Shafer! Great teachers and staff. Caring environment.”

Katy ISD schools also took second place along with the reamaining campuses on the Top 10 list. In fact, the first non Katy ISD school on the list is Creekside Forest Elementary School - number 17, according to the company. It’s the second year Katy has swept the Top 10 list, Katy ISD officials said.

“It wasn’t just the first, the second, nor the third spot on the list,” Katy ISD officials said in a statement. “Katy Independent School district took all 10 of them plus six additional ones.”

Along with Shafer Elementary School, the remaining Katy ISD elementary campuses on the list were:

11. Roosevelt Alexander Elementary

12. Roberta Wright Elementary

13. Hazel S. Pattison Elementary

14. Ray & Jamie Wolman Elementary

15. Jeanette Hayes Elementary

16. James E. Randolph Elementary

Katy ISD has 41 elementary schools and an overall district enrollment of nearly 80,000 students.
