National Non-Profit Day, observed on August 17th, recognizes nonprofit organizations' profound impact on communities nationwide. In Katy, Texas, nonprofits are crucial in addressing various community needs, from disaster relief and homelessness support to educational resources and medical assistance. Katy Responds: Restoring Hope and Homes

Katy Responds focuses on disaster relief, rebuilding, and restoration efforts for families affected by natural disasters in the Katy area. Their mission is to rebuild homes and restore hope, ensuring families can return to safe and secure living environments. In 2023, Katy Responds invested substantial funds into the community, restoring homes for over 180 families and logging nearly 8,000 volunteer hours​.

The Ballard House: A Home Away from Home

The Ballard House, a Katy Area Economic Development Council member, provides a compassionate, no-cost temporary home for individuals and their caregivers traveling to Houston for medical treatment. It eases the burdens of those facing challenging medical journeys by offering a warm and welcoming environment. Over the years, the Ballard House has provided 90,000 nights of housing and served over 18,221 families, supported by the generosity of the Katy community​.

Their annual events, such as Operation Back 2 School and the Christmas Blessing Event, have served over 15,000 students and provided numerous gifts to children. Their food distribution programs have also helped more than 12,000 people.

Since its inception in 2014, Hope Impacts has helped over 260 individuals transition from homelessness to housing.
