Revitalization of Fulshear’s downtown area continues with the Harris Street improvement project.
The gist
At an Aug. 20 meeting, Fulshear City Council approved a $3.75 million contract with DG Medina Construction, LLC for Harris Street improvements from FM 1093 to Fifth Street to make downtown more walkable by:
-Replacing street asphalt with concrete paving
-Constructing a pedestrian plaza from Third to Fifth streets
-Adding street parking
The project is jointly funded by the city’s economic development corporations with each providing half of the funding, council member Joel Patterson said.
What else?
According to agenda documents, the bid included several alternates for the project, including:
-Street lighting both inside and outside the pedestrian plaza
-String lighting within the pedestrian plaza
Looking back
City Council rejected a bid for the project June 18 after receiving only one bid and readvertised the project beginning July 2, where the city received five bids, including DG Medina Construction, Public Works Assistant Director Tiffany Stodder said.
Next steps
Construction is anticipated to be completed 270 days, or nearly 9 months, after start time, Stodder said.
