Diversity and Opportunity

What does Diversity mean to us?

The word diversity conjures up different meanings for different people across multiple dimensions and industries. Thoughts of similarities, differences, equal opportunity, advocacy, social justice, and issues of equity and fairness often come to mind when people think about diversity. But for the Katy EDC who serve as an “integrator” of forward-thinking organizations, diversity is an inclusive unit made up of many parts. At the Katy EDC, we believe diversity and inclusion is not only good for business, it is mission critical and the right thing to do for the entire Katy area.

Katy Area EDC commissioned a white paper on Diversity in 2018. The white paper is available here and outlines recommendations for diversity economic development strategies.

Diversity Committee

The Katy Area EDC Diversity Committee has been working since 2017 pursuing the economic and business development strategies below. During this time, the Task Force has conducted a survey of EDC membership and is currently working to develop a Katy area Minority Business Directory and help connect minority companies with procurement and supplier opportunities and help connect minority companies to become HUB Certified.
