Katy Area EDC Supports Katy ISD Bond Issue
Katy, Texas-Katy Area EDC President/CEO Lance LaCour announced today that the Katy Area EDC Board of Governors approved a resolution last week supporting and recommending approval  the of the bond authorization referendum in the amount of $459,000,000 as approved by the Board of Trustees of the KISD. The Bond Issue is on the ballot for November 2, 2010, with early voting starting today.

Pointsmith, a major point of sale marketing company that employs 100 people, is moving its headquarters and manufacturing to the Katy Area.  Pointsmith has purchased 10 acres in the Primewest Business Park where Academy is located and plans to double its size and build a 241,000 sf building.  The EDC has worked on the project since winter of 2008.  Currently, the EDC has helped identify incentive and assistance programs for the Company that it may pursue.

The Task Force unveiled detailed strategies designed to put the issues related to the flawed contract award of the FMTV vehicles quickly in front of decision-makers in Washington. We received messages of strong support from the offices of Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, Sen. John Cornyn, Congressman Michael McCaul, and Texas Gov. Rick Perry, all of whom are actively concerned and engaged in our cause to expose the errors made by the U.S. Army process that led to Oshkosh wrongly receiving the $3 billion contract award.
