Katy Economic Development Council to Participate in Congressman McCaul’s Job Fair
 
Nearly 2,000 Open Positions Will Bring Relief to the Unemployed
 
For Immediate Release:
Katy,TX, August 17, 2009— The Katy Economic Development Council (“Katy EDC”) today
announced plans to participate in Congressman Michael McCaul’s Job Fair to be held Tuesday,
August 18, 2009 from 9AM to 3PM at the Leonard E. Merrell Center at 6301 South Stadium
Lane in Katy. Thus far registered employers have identified approximately 2,000 currently open
positions .
 
“One of the principal objectives of the Katy Economic Development Council is to partner with
key organizations to develop a welltrained, available, workforce as well as to promote Katy as a
sought after talent center for key employers,” notes Lance LaCour, president and CEO of the
Katy EDC. “This event will not only bring relief to the many unemployed across our area and
state, but also will prove once again that Katy is a prime location to find well educated, well
prepared employees that will substantively contribute to the success of any business or
government entity.”
 
“It’s encouraging to see so many companies hiring, which I think speaks to the resiliency of the
Texas economy and the positive business climate we have created compared to other regions,”
said Congressman McCaul, who represents the Katy area in the 10th Congressional District. “My
hope is that the people who come here will have jobs shortly after they leave, they’ll be able to
pay their bills and put food on the table and businesses will increase productivity.”
LaCour and Frank L. Lombard, vice president of the Katy EDC, will be available at a booth at the
job fair to educate attendees on how the programs of the Katy EDC can assist both employers
and residents of the Katy area.
