International risk-management firm now operating from new Katy office

Katy area residents employed with Det Norske Veritas, a Norwegian firm that provides risk-management services, are enjoying shorter commutes with the recent opening of a new office for its Houston operations.
Ron Hoffmaster, director of human resources and a project manager for the firm, told members of the Katy Area Economic Development Council at an April 14 meeting that the new 90,000 square-foot, two-story building could not be found using MapQuest.
But he said it is located on a 6.8-acre site at 1400 Ravello Drive between Mason Road and the Grand Parkway, about one-half mile from Interstate 10. About 270 employees are moving from other Houston area offices to the Katy facility, Hoffmaster said.
