Reported by Jennifer Dawson of the Houston Business Journal on April 3, Pathfinder Energy Services, Inc., an operating unit of Smith International, Inc. (a Fortune 500 Company), announced the construction of the Pathfinder Technology Center on a 34 acre site in Katy Texas. Pathfinder’s core business lies in Logging-while-drilling and Measurement-while-drilling Services, Directional Drilling Services and Down-hole Drilling Motors. The project is expected to comprise over 200,000 sq. ft. in buildings with a capital investment of $20 million and include the Company’s headquarters, manufacturing and research and development activities. The Company will be consolidating four facilities and its employees at the technology center.
EDC staff worked closely with Mark Nicholas, Senior Vice President of Jones Lang LaSalle, for nearly two years, to help identify a suitable site for the project. We were pleased to provide technical assistance with site selection and exploration of other economic development programs relative to the project and welcome Pathfinder Energy Services to the Katy Area. Let me say thank you to LJA Engineering for their GIS assistance as it was important in identifying suitable sites.
