NewQuest Properties released a statement Monday that the company will be breaking ground on what Rebecca Le, vice president at NewQuest, said is the last portion of Phase 1 for Grand Morton Town Center. The new building will be built just north of the Kroger store that is already in operation in the shopping center.

Four tenants for the building were announced in the press release announcing the construction of the 66,000-square-foot building. HomeGoods, Michaels, Petco and Hallmark have all signed leases for space in the new building.

“These retailers will bring a tremendous amount of value to Grand Morton Town Center,” NewQuest associate Josh Friedlander said in the press release. “Our smaller shops will benefit greatly from having these new junior anchors.”

The building has about 10,000 square feet of retail space remaining, according to the press release. The Kroger store is the primary anchor retailer for this portion of Grand Morton Town Center. Wal-Mart anchors Phase 2 of the shopping center, located on the north side of Morton Ranch Road from Phase 1, making the intersection a growth hub for the area which NewQuest said has about 400,000 residents nearby.

“[Hwy.] 99 and Morton Ranch Road has turned into a huge regional intersection,” Friedlander said.
