Pot hole repairs, Cane Island Parkway extension: 4 Katy-area transportation updates to know this November

Repairs to five roads
Work has begun to repair portions of five roads that are showing cracks and pot holes. The contractor is completing mobilization to the area, said Eric Heppen, a project manager for Harris County Precinct 3. Elrod Road will be repaired from Clay Road to Morton Ranch Road, and then from Morton Ranch Road to Franz Road. Katy Hockley Cut Off Road will be repaired from FM 529 to a half mile south of Beckendorf Road. Katy Gap Road will be repaired from Kingsland Boulevard to the limits of the asphalt near the 99 Frontage Road. About 1,200 feet of Roesner Road will be repaired from Katy Gap to the Harris County line. About 1 mile of Old Fry Road and Franz is also being repaired.

Morton at Greenhouse extension
Extending all four left-turn lanes at the intersection of Morton Road and Greenhouse Road is almost finished. The project will increase capacity at the intersection. All the concrete for the project has been installed, Heppen said. Remaining work items include installing pavement markings and adjusting some pedestrian signals.

Cane Island Parkway extension
The project to build a new two-lane road connecting Cane Island Parkway and FM 1463 just south of I-10 in Katy is nearly complete, said Stacy Slawinski, Fort Bend County assistant engineer. Cane Island Parkway opened to traffic Aug. 31, and a new traffic signal at FM 1463 was activated at the same time. Some final construction activities remain, but rain has slowed down the conclusion, Slawinski said.

Timeline: July 2017-December 2018
Cost: $8.7 million
Funding sources: Fort Bend County, city of Katy, Ventana Development

Crossover Road widening
The existing two-lane asphalt roadway on Crossover Road is being replaced, but precipitation has postponed the finish date, Slawinski said. Work continues between FM 1463 and 1,000 feet from the intersection with Spring Green Boulevard. Once the project is finished, the road will be a four-lane boulevard with a storm drainage system. Plans also include placing a new traffic signal at the intersection of FM 1463 and Crossover.
