Katy City Council approved two contracts to refurbish drainage infrastructure and water lines during its Feb. 11 meeting.

The contract for more than $126,000 was awarded to Aranda Industries LLC, a Houston-based company. The contractor will repair and update storm sewers on Bartlett Road and Sanford Street.

The storm sewer repair contract will allow the city to maintain drainage infrastructure and places the city in control of the drainage easement the storm sewer is located within, Council Member Chris Harris said. The easement had previously been owned by a private citizen that voluntarily turned the easement over to the city’s control, he said.

A second contract worth more than $579,000 was awarded to HTI Construction out of Rosenberg to maintain water lines in the city. Funds for the contract will come from the city’s regular budget and Reserve Water and Sewer Enterprise Fund.
