FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WEST HOUSTON/KATY AREA - January 11, 2011 - WEST Engineering Services, a company providing drill-through equipment (DTE) and training, has selected the West Houston/Katy Area as the location for its new global headquarters.

WEST Engineering will use a 44,077-square foot single-story building located at 16406 Park Row, at the intersection of Park Ten Boulevard as the site of its new headquarters, following extensive renovations to the building. The building is located on a 3.107-acre tract of land WEST recently bought from Fuller Realty Partners, LLC.

WEST’s decision to locate on the West Houston/Katy Area site is welcome news at the Katy Area Economic Development Council (KAEDC) which provided assistance to West and Fuller.
Lance LaCour, President/CEO of Katy Area EDC noted, “WEST Engineering will be a valuable addition to the Katy Area/West Houston business community. WEST is a great example of entrepreneurial and professional success in the energy services industry. The highly-skilled jobs and capital investment that WEST establishes in the Katy Area will strengthen the tri-county economy”. LaCour said that EDC Vice President Frank Lombard, in facilitating this transaction, worked diligently with West for several months to help them find and acquire a suitable building and site. “Frank did an outstanding job and will be working with West to facilitate training and other economic development assistance.”
Founded in Scotland as WEST Limited in 1984 by Michael and Janet Montgomery, WEST Engineering is a full-service drilling equipment consulting, survey/assessment, training and equipment services company. The Montgomery’s moved the company to Houston in 1988 to establish proximity to WEST’s sizable customer base among international oil companies and DTE equipment manufacturers located in the Houston area. Today, WEST is widely recognized as a preeminent industry leader in the fields of well control and drilling systems surveys, and is also an industry leader in technical risk assessments and drilling equipment training.

WEST has built its customer base partly on its reputation for logging lessons learned from each job. All job lessons are saved in WEST’s information systems and shared with other jobs and projects that may benefit. Along with their expansion in Park Ten, WEST will strengthen existing operations in Brookshire/Waller County where WEST and the Montgomery family will continue to support and participate in civic, business, and community service organizations.

Fuller Realty Partners is a privately owned, full service commercial real estate firm headquartered in Houston and founded in 1979. Paul R. Moreton, a Fuller principal, notes that they bought the site in 2006, and leased 85,000 square feet to Kraton Polymers in 2009. The sale of the flex-space to WEST Engineering Services completes their value-add proposition for this asset.

The principals of Fuller have been partners since 1994 and have a collective 75 years of commercial real estate experience. Fuller’s primary focus is on opportunistic assets that have the ability to increase in value substantially with an effective management, leasing and improvement program. Fuller takes a conservative approach to achieve aggressive investment returns and manages assets to maximize the future investment value.

WEST’s move to Park Ten is a testament to the KAEDC’s pivotal role in the West Houston/Katy Area’s increasingly diversified business community. The KAEDC originated as an idea of the Economic Development Committee of the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce in December 2002. The goal of creating the organization was to address the fact that the greater Katy Area, as a tri-county location, had been often overlooked for major economic development projects due to minimal efforts to market and facilitate economic development in the area. Since 2003, KAEDC has helped facilitate the creation of more than 8,500 jobs and more than $1 Billion in capital investment in the greater West Houston and Katy Area. The KAEDC has a strong base of support from 150 members including both public and private sector organizations.
