New sculpture installed - "The Landing"
The City of Katy and Keep Katy Beautiful announced the arrival of “The Landing,” a 14-foot, bronze sculpture featuring five large Canadian geese arriving on the Katy Prairie.

The sculpture was installed Wednesday at the intersection of the westbound service road of Interstate 10 and Highway Boulevard.
“KKB is excited and looking forward to the arrival of this beautiful, unique statue as an entrance to our city,” said Kay Callender, KKB board member and KKB chairman. “Landscaping the area will follow and KKB anticipates an official ribbon cutting in early June.”
This project of Keep Katy Beautiful, 2007 winner of the Governor’s Community Achievement Award, is funded through Keep Texas Beautiful by the Texas Department of Transportation.
The original artwork was designed by Edd Hayes, a well-known bronze sculptor whose work includes Dr. Michael DeBakey, multiple War Memorials as well as the bronze deer scattered throughout the Woodlands.
“This beautiful entrance to our city has been four years in the planning,” said Jaime Wolman of KKB.
“KKB has met with landscape architects, artist and the Texas Department of Transportation to create an entrance area reflective of the history and character of the City of Katy,” she said.
The Welcome to Katy sign that was formerly located at the east entrance to the city will be relocated to Katy City Park at the corner of Avenue D and Franz Road.
