The Katy area is home to many corporate energy training centers such as the BP North America Center, National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and Petroskills. The large, talented, energetic workforce is one of the reasons why major employers are headquartered here. Katy Area EDC helps Katy area employers by (1) facilitating workforce resources and training through the local Workforce Solutions Office at Katy Mills and (2) helping companies interface with the University of Houston-Victoria, Houston Community College (HCC), Katy ISD and other training providers in the area. Katy Mills, Katy Area EDC, the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce and the local legislative delegation formed a P3 Partnership to locate the Workforce Solutions Office at Katy Mills.
Katy Area EDC, by working with local Workforce Solutions personnel, can help existing or new companies apply for workforce incentives such as the "Skills Development Grant" program through Houston Community College or other programs offered from the Texas Workforce Commission.
